Dr. Apinita Chaichana said that UNPKFC normally had a policy to promote and assist peacekeepers, and to collaborate with members of the organization to donate wheelchairs and drinking water to society in continuity. This support and assistance were allocated according to the situation and suitability. The organization’s work was strongly related to the sustainable development goals in Thailand, and its aim was to attain the global level of Sustainable Development Goals in 2030. The core aspect of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) could be summarized in a short phrase as “Leaving no one behind”.

UNPKFC had an opportunity to support and collaborate with the Korean War Veterans Association Under the Royal Patronage of the King in various events due to the strong perception that those veterans were important people of the Thai history, and the ages of some veterans were reaching a century. They remarkably helped build up graceful image for Thailand as peacekeepers who participated in the Korean War on June 29th, 1949. At that time, the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) sent out a telegram asking for help from Thailand as a member of the United Nations, and Thailand was the first country in Asia that responded and notified them that the country was willing to assist UN in this war. The country sent out 4,000 troops to work with the United Nations with the approval of the Parliament.

“The organization’s activity is in accordance with Goal 16: To promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, in which everyone has access to justice, and to build effective, responsible, and inclusive institutions in every level of society, to expand and strengthen the participation of developing countries in institutions related to the global governance. These people have been the pride of Thailand and a good role model for later generations of the military. At this present time, they still have never left their comrades behind. Our mission is to not leave them alone. They were frontliners who created dignity for the nation. It is time for us to support and encourage them and veterans of every battlefield to go through their fights without the sense of solitariness, even after their retirement.”

“We appreciate the support and contribution of our team and members in this project. Thanks to the Korean War Veterans Association Under the Royal Patronage of the King to allow UNPKFC to participate in multiple useful activities. We greatly appreciate this warm hospitality.”, said Dr. Aphinita.

After that, everyone had lunch together before leaving safely.
